The Dallas Mavericks have been in eclipse over the last few months. They traded away young generational superstar Luka Doncic in early February, causing their fans to become indignant, and to make matters worse, several of their key players suffered serious injuries shortly afterward.

The Mavericks felt that Doncic didn't give them the best chance to win a title — despite the fact that they made the NBA Finals just a year ago — constantly repeating the phrase "defense wins championships" as the explanation for the deal.
