Israel’s military has resumed a ceasefire in Gaza following a collapse of the truce on the weekend when Israel said it launched a series of attacks on Hamas in response to a ceasefire violation by the Palestinian militant group in which two Israeli soldiers were killed, news agencies reported.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas has released the last surviving hostages it was holding in Gaza, in exchange for almost 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners, under the terms of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire.

A US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza appears to have survived its first major test as Israel and Hamas affirmed their commitment to the deal after two Israeli soldiers were killed in the enclave on Sunday,

The Israeli military said it had received coffins believed to contain the remains of two more deceased hostages.

IDF said that two Israeli soldiers were killed and two wounded in a deadly Hamas attack near Salah A-Din Road in southern Gaza on Sunday morning. Israeli army added that Hamas operatives emerged from a cross-border tunnel and fired RPGs at IDF excavators.
