The U.S. Coast Guard says​ it has seized over 40,000 pounds of cocaine in the Eastern Pacific Ocean over the last month as part of boosted counter-drug operations.

Hurricane Lorena formed off the coast of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and a tropical storm warning has been issued for parts for of the area, forecasters said. Hurricanes Kiko and Lorena are churning in the Pacific, whipping up strong winds and large waves. Kiko, located well over 1000 miles southeast of the Hawaiian Islands as of Thursday morning, is by far the stronger of the two. The storm's maximum sustained winds reached 145 mph by Wednesday night.
