ASHLAND, Ohio — A group of 10 teachers at an elementary school in Northeast Ohio received a nice bonus earlier this month when they won a $1 million jackpot in a Powerball drawing. The ticket for the teachers from Crestview Elementary School in Ashland was purchased at a Circle K in Seville for the Aug. 6 drawing, according to the Ohio Lottery.
The group now plans to honor a former teacher who died six years ago from cancer and remained a part of the lottery pool.
An Ohio couple won $1 million on a Powerball ticket after taking a wrong turn in a construction zone. The Mahoning County couple was traveling from city to city in Ohio buying Powerball tickets when they came across some construction in Canfield.

In March of 2021, Manocchio died of cancer, but her fellow teachers continued to play and contributed to her share in the teacher’s honor, according to the Ohio Lottery and WJW. She had worked at the school for more than two decades, according to her obituary.
