49ers wide receiver Jacob Cowing did not practice Wednesday. Coach Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR that Cowing is dealing with the same lingering hamstring injury that sidelined him early in camp. “Yes, it is [the hamstring],” Shanahan said on the radio, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “ He felt it yesterday, so we had to hold him back today.”
The 49ers have a lot of concerns at the wide receiver position ahead of the 2025 season, and Demarcus Robinson's suspension just complicated things more.
Here's who stood out on Day 17 of 49ers training camp. Keep in mind, second-year wide receiver Jacob Cowing did not practice.
Seeing as the Niners can’t out and trade for Packers’ now-cornerback Bo Melton (yes, they changed his position and it’s apparently going well), there are three names I suspect are at the top of the 49ers’ attainable wishlist:
The 49ers will be without DeMarcus Robinson to start the 2025 campaign, as he has been suspended for the first three games of the season.
Earlier this week, the 49ers tried to trade for wide receiver John Metchie before the Philadelphia Eagles ultimately made the Houston Texans a better offer.
The Minnesota Vikings are in a bit of a pickle at the wide receiver position right now. Jordan Addison will be sidelined for the first three games of the regular season due to a suspension, and Justin Jefferson's status is up in the air as a result of a hamstring injury.
