Google is updating its ubiquitous search engine with the next generation of its artificial intelligence technology as part of an effort to provide instant expertise amid intensifying competition from smaller competitors.

The US Justice Department has demanded that Google sell its Chrome browser to break up its alleged monopoly in online search. The department also wants Google to cease paid agreements for being the default search engine on various platforms.

With AI Mode, users see a more comprehensive AI summary with hyperlinks to cited webpages. The 10 blue links have been replaced.
