A federal judge early Saturday temporarily blocked billionaire Elon Musk's government efficiency team from accessing government systems used to process trillions of dollars in payments, citing a risk that sensitive information could be improperly disclosed.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk's government efficiency team has been temporarily blocked from accessing certain government systems, according to a federal judge's ruling on Saturday.

The case, filed in federal court in New York City, alleges the Trump administration allowed Musk’s team access to the Treasury Department’s central payment system in violation of federal law.

A federal judge, citing a risk of “irreparable harm,” early Saturday temporarily restricted Elon Musk’s government efficiency team from accessing a critical Treasury Department payment system.

The judge also ordered Musk and his team to “immediately destroy any and all copies of material downloaded from Treasury Department’s records and systems, if any.”

A different judge temporarily restricted DOGE access to Treasury Department systems that process trillions of dollars in payments per year, limiting access to two employees with “read only” privileges. One of those, Marko Elez, resigned after he was linked to social media posts that espoused racism, but Musk said Friday he is being rehired.
