Seattle City Council President Sara Nelson held a campaign event in Lake City Friday, meeting with residents and business owners to address their concerns about what they say is rampant violent crime,

With nine candidates vying for three council seats, there’s a primary election on Oct. 7, 2025, with the general election then on Nov. 4. The top six candidates will move on from the primary to the general election. Of those six, three will be elected to the open seats.

The Bastrop City Council passed a resolution delaying the sale of a $20 million bond that is funding the Old Iron Bridge repairs and parks and recreation projects, including a par-3 golf course.

Wednesday, City Council members Dan Moore, Alex Watters and Matthew O’Kane announced they won’t seek reelection. Moore has served three terms on the City Council, and he’s also served as Mayor pro tem since 2016. Thursday, Moore said a number of factors contributed to his decision not to run for reelection.

"Councilwoman [Amanda] Sawyer and I asked the voters to approve last November, adding this to the city charter and adding the director to the mayor's cabinet so that it could never be eliminated. That might have been the saving grace of this agency in our most recent cuts."
