A new Minecraft: Wii U Edition update has become available and with it the Super Mario Mash-up Pack. The update requires approximately 70MB of space to download.

Mojang also confirmed that Minecraft for Wii U supports off-TV play via the GamePad. More details about the Wii U version will be announced in the lead-up to its release on December 17.

Mario and his pals will soon venture into the blocky world of Mojang's Minecraft as part of a free update for Minecraft: Wii U Edition launching this month.

Minecraft lead developer Jeb Bergensten releases a video confirming that Minecraft will finally be coming to Nintendo Wii U, and just in time for the holiday season.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition will feature off-TV play with the GamePad. Minecraft: Wii U Edition is out December 17. Minecraft is also available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita.

As far as Minecraft’s console versions go, the Wii U Edition compares favorably and even has features that might entice those who have played on PlayStation and Xbox.
