Yankees right-hander Luis Gil will start the season on the injured list because of a high-grade lat strain in his pitching shoulder that will prevent him from throwing for at least six weeks.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil has been diagnosed with a high-grade lat strain in his right shoulder and will be out at least a couple of months.

The Yankees do not know the results of Luis Gil’s MRI but are hoping for the best after hearing something any team dreads when he said his shoulder was feeling tight.
