Family and loved ones of 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel​ gathered at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis on Sunday to celebrate his life.

More than 1,400 people joined together in southwest Minneapolis for the funeral of Annunciation Catholic School student Fletcher Merkel on Sunday afternoon.

At the Minneapolis funeral service, Fletcher Merkel, 8, was remembered for his enthusiasm and kindness. With his mop of blond hair and big smile, Fletcher Merkel never stopped moving. On Sunday, the 8-year-old boy, who loved fishing and football was laid to rest 11 days after he was killed in a mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church.
