Hampered by plummeting sales and rising competition from overseas e-commerce merchants, the 41-year-old company entered bankruptcy in 2019, closing at least 21 stores in California at the time. After decades of family ownership, the retail chain was sold to investors, who now seek a new owner for the brand.

According to CT Post reporting, three of the six Forever 21 stores in Connecticut will be closing by spring of this year. The Manchester, Milford and Waterford locations are scheduled to close during March and April of 2025, employees at each location said to CT Post reporters in late February.

Forever 21 would close the stores under the bankruptcy agreement. However, if the retailer can’t find a buyer while undergoing the bankruptcy process, it might shut down all remaining stores in the U.S, according to Bloomberg.
