Acclaimed writer Mark L. Smith adapted the Peter Heller novel of the same name. Smith is the creator and writer of Netflix’s new hit series American Primeval starring Taylor Kitsch and Betty Gilpin and is coming off the global success of Twisters starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones for Universal.

Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley and Guy Pearce have joined the cast of Ridley Scott’s next film, “The Dog Stars.” They’ll star alongside Jacob Elordi, who was hired in January after Paul Mescal exited the film due to scheduling issues.

Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin and Guy Pearce are in final talks to star in the movie for 20th Century Studios. Mark L. Smith wrote the script, adapting Peter Heller’s 2012 apocalyptic novel of the same name.
