Nepal Protests: The Kathmandu Airport is reopening on Wednesday, a day after violent protests in Nepal forced it to shut down, Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority has said. The decision was made after the authorities held a meeting on Wednesday as the Nepal Army imposed nationwide restrictions to curb violence.
Bengaluru, Indian tourists, many from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, are stranded in Kathmandu after unrest swept through the capital of Nepal, a tourist said on Wednesday. Gauri K, who had gone on a Kailash-Mansarovar expedition with her sister, said she was stuck along with a large number of Indians at a hotel.
The resumption of flights comes amid ongoing security measures in the capital, with the Nepalese Army arresting 27 individuals involved in looting, arson, and other violent acts during the Gen Z-led protests across Nepal, including in Kathmandu, The Himalayan Times reported on Wednesday.
"The bus service is being suspended. This service, known as the Delhi-Kathmandu Maitri Bus Sewa, symbolises the strong ties between India and Nepal and remains a popular choice for travellers. We are suspending it as of now and will resume it once the situation normalises," an official told PTI.
Nepal has plunged into political turmoil after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stepped down as Gen Z-led demonstrations gripped Kathmandu and several other regions of the country.

As per a report by NDTV, Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar, the wife of Nepal's ex-prime minister Jhalanath Khanal, was burnt alive on Tuesday. She was trapped in her house, located in Dallu area in the state capital Kathmandu, which Gen Z protestors had set on fire. Chitrakar was rushed to Kirtipur Burn Hospital but died during the treatment, NDTV reported.
