A lottery player won the biggest jackpot in Missouri history on Sept. 6, thanks to a Powerball ticket sold at a QuikTrip in north St. Louis County. The winner will split a nearly $1.8 billion prize.
A ticket sold in Missouri and a ticket sold in Texas matched all six numbers to win Saturday night's Powerball jackpot.
Powerball players in Missouri and Texas have won the nearly $1.8 billion jackpot, overcoming astronomical odds to end the lottery game’s three-month drought without a big winner.
“It was a record setting night for the Missouri Lottery, with the $893.5 million prize ranking as the highest jackpot prize won in Missouri to date,” said MO Lottery Executive Director Lester Elder. “It exceeds the previous record of $293.7 million from a Powerball drawing held in November 2012.”
Players who purchased tickets in Texas County in FY24 won more than $7.2 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $424,000 in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $3 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
