FBI releases photos of person of interest in Charlie Kirk’s killing on a Utah university campus
OREM, Utah (AP) — Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and close ally of President Donald Trump who played an influential role in rallying young Republican voters, was shot and killed at a Utah college event in what the governor called a political assassination.
Kirk was shot during a question-and-answer session as part of his American Comeback Tour that stopped at Utah Valley University. In several graphic videos that are circulating on social media, Kirk slumped back in his chair after a bullet hit his neck. Kirk was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
Kirk made visits to all three of Arizona's major public university campuses — Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University and the University of Arizona — as well as GCU, most recently in fall 2024 for the "You're Being Brainwashed" tour. Kirk also attended voter registration events across Arizona college campuses.
