New York Yankees right-hander Luis Gil will be shut down from throwing for six weeks with a strained lat muscle, putting his 2025 season in jeopardy. That means he is at least three months away from pitching in a major league game—if he returns this season at all.
Hampton, the Yankees’ sixth-round pick in 2022, was widely considered a Top 100 prospect at this time last year before the injury-laden season. Still, he entered this spring as the Yankees’ No. 7 prospect according to Baseball America.
