The moves were critical before Boston’s two-game road trip to Carolina (Thursday) and Tampa (Saturday) which is sandwiched around Friday’s trade deadline. They’ll need extra bodies in the event of another injury, illness or a roster player getting dealt.
The Boston Bruins were busy with roster moves before Wednesday’s practice and made another one before they traveled to North Carolina. Jordan Oesterle was placed on waivers Wednesday. The defenseman was summoned from Providence in November ahead of Boston’s game against the Nashville Predators.
BOSTON – Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, March 4, that the team has acquired defenseman Max Wanner, a 2025 second-round draft pick (from St. Louis) and a 2026 fourth-round draft pick from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forwards Trent Frederic and Max Jones.
The Predators lost both games in New York over the weekend, a 7-4 loss to the Islanders and a 4-0 loss to the Rangers. Nashville (21-32-7, 49 points) remains in seventh place in the Central Division, four points ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Minnesota was the last team the Bruins beat before that five-game skid, a run which further dimmed Boston’s playoff hopes.
