On Sunday, St. Peter’s Square was filled with singing and prayers in many languages accompanying the first canonizations of Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate.
It was only their first day on the job as canonized saints, but Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati were already fulfilling their roles of drawing people to Christ.
“Blesseds” Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati — who are both beatified, the first step toward sainthood — will be canonized in the Vatican on Sunday, Sept. 7, the first such ceremony by Pope Leo XIV.
