Chile’s Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service issued a tsunami precaution for the Chilean Antarctic territory following a 7.5-magnitude earthquake that struck 258 km (160 miles)northwest of Base

There was no tsunami threat after Thursday's earthquake of magnitude 7.5 in the Drake Passage between South America and Antarctica, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, following its brief warning for Chilean coastal areas.

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern tip of South America, in the Drake Passage, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reports, striking at the shallow depth of 10 kilometers. Chile has also issued a tsunami threat advisory.
