A Baltimore judge is weighing whether to reduce Adnan Syed's murder sentence to time served, allowing him to remain free even though murder conviction still stands.

Syed, whose case garnered international attention after the “Serial” podcast, has a hearing Wednesday seeking to reduce his sentence and allow him to remain free.

Baltimore’s top prosecutor is no longer seeking to vacate the murder conviction of Adnan Syed, the man whose case garnered national attention in the “Serial” podcast over a decade ago.

Meanwhile, Baltimore State’s Attorney Ivan Bates announced Tuesday that his office is withdrawing a previously filed motion to vacate Syed’s conviction in the 1999 killing of his high school ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, who was found strangled to death and buried in a makeshift grave.
