President Donald Trump traveled to Alaska on Friday in an attempt to find peace between Russia and Ukraine, telling reporters he wants the killings to end.

Steve Witkoff said Russia agreed in Alaska that the US and Europe could provide Ukraine with a Nato-style guarantee.

Speaking after Friday’s summit, President Putin again implied that the war is all about Russia’s diminished status since the fall of the Soviet Union.

Much of the talk between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, today will center on whether Ukraine is willing to give up land to end the war with Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has long sought to control the four Ukrainian regions of Luhansk,

Hours before he was due to host Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, Trump also said there would be "no getting back" the Crimean peninsula, which Moscow illegally annexed in 2014, eight years before launching its full-scale invasion.

Before and after the summit between President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Ukraine has been assaulted with a barrage of Russian drone attacks and bombs.
