Pope Leo XIV has declared a 15-year-old computer whiz the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint. Carlo Acutis, who died in 2006, was canonized during an open-air Mass in St. Peter’s Square.

Pope Leo XIV proclaimed the Italians Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis as saints of the Church on Sunday, Sept. 7.

At the first canonization ceremony of his pontificate, Leo XIV described Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati as ”both in love with Jesus and ready to give everything for him.”
