England are safely through to the knockout phase of this summer’s Women's Euro 2025, though face a tough test to defend their crown. The Lionesses, who won the tournament for the first time in 2022, finished runners-up to France in Group D but sealed a quarter-final berth with ease thanks to a 6-1 thumping of Wales on matchday three.

There was a brief period during England’s thumping win over Wales where they were top of their group and, for some, that was bad news.

England have spread the goals around this tournament, and they did so again against Wales, with Stanway, Toone, Hemp, Mead and Beever-Jones all on the scoresheet. And importantly, so too was England’s No 9 Russo for the first time at Euro 2025.
