Tropical Storm Lorena is churning in the Pacific, bringing the possibility of life-threatening conditions and other hazards to parts of Mexico. Parts of the southwestern U.S. could also see some impacts from the storm, which was previously a hurricane.

Hurricane Lorena, which is forecast to move into northwestern Mexico in the coming days, could bring flash flooding to the Southwest on Friday and Saturday as remnants of the cyclone may cause heavy rain in the area. These heavy rainfall concerns could hit Arizona through Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Lorena is expected to rapidly weaken, but moisture will stream into the Southwestern United States, forecasters said.
