Nathan MacKinnon became the 100th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 career regular-season points Monday night against the Chicago Blackhawks. It happened 31 seconds into the third period. MacKinnon left the puck for Devon Toews at the right point, and Artturi Lehkonen deflected it past Chicago goalie Spencer Knight.

While Nathan MacKinnon has had an incredible level of innate ability his entire life, his relentless work ethic and drive to be the best was what helped him reach the 1,000-point milestone on Monday.

Nathan MacKinnon, in his 856th career NHL game, has recorded his 1,000th NHL point. MacKinnon is the 100th player in NHL History to reach the milestone. The Cole Harbour native is also the 23rd player to do it in 856 games or less.

His next goal or assist will join him with Hall of Famers Joe Sakic and Peter Stastny as the only skaters in franchise history to reach 1,000 points. His next chance is Monday against Chicago at Ball Arena.
