"Heavy rain is already moving through Louisiana and will continue over the next few days," AccuWeather's Alex DaSilva said.

Hurricane center forecasters said the system, designated as Invest 93L, is forecast to continue moving westward and could emerge or redevelop.

Over 11,000 people in the Kansas City area were without power as of 9:48 a.m. Thursday, according to the Evergy outage map. Over 3,00 people in Jackson County, and more than 6,000 in Johnson County were also without power. Restoration is delayed and there is no estimated restoration time available.

Heavy thunderstorms Wednesday across southern Colorado brought flooding, hail, and strong wind to the area. Moisture remains high today leading to continued storm and flooding potential.

The good news is a marked decrease in intensity of the thunderstorms in the past two hours. As of 7:30 p.m. there is only one isolated severe thunderstorm warning in effect over the entire Great Lakes region. The National Weather Service has watched this decline and cancelled the severe thunderstorm watch in effect for this evening.

We keep ahold of this unsettled pattern into this weekend with daily storm chances and awful humidity. Matter of fact, next week could be our most miserable week of the year. Wednesday night: Scattered showers and storms will remain possible into tonight.

Slow-moving downpours are possible across portions of the Baltimore metro after 2 p.m. The chance of rain and storms increases further during the early evening hours. Strong, to severe, storms will organize over western Maryland late this afternoon and sweep eastward through the evening hours.
