European diesel refinery profit margins rose by 5.7% on Tuesday, supported by upcoming maintenance at the region's largest oil refinery.

The 340,000-bpd refinery, which has not yet operated at full capacity, has brought back online two crude distillation units and the main gasoline producing unit.

Shell will not resume construction of a biofuels facility at its Shell Energy and Chemicals Park in Rotterdam after an in-depth evaluation found it would not be competitive, the company said.
