Turning Point has released a statement, a day after political activist Charlie Kirk was shot dead during a campus event.

12 p.m. ET: Authorities recovered a Mauser .30 caliber bolt-action rifle hidden in a towel in a wooded area near the university campus along what they suspect to be the shooter’s path as they fled the scene, The Associated Press reported.

Video shared on social media shows Kirk talking when he suddenly falls back as the sound of a loud pop is heard. A spokesperson for Kirk told the Associated Press that he was shot. His condition is unknown.

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck and killed Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. A person of interest was questioned by police but later released.

President Donald Trump told Fox and Friends on Friday morning that a suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is in custody.
