Charlie Kirk was fielding questions about gun violence at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday when he was shot.

In a press conference on Thursday night, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said that law enforcement had received more than 7,000 tips from the public, but pleaded for more of their assistance in finding the shooter. “We need as much help as we can possibly get," he said.

The sniper who assassinated Charlie Kirk is believed to have jumped off a roof and fled into a neighborhood after firing one shot and has not been identified, authorities said.

Kirk, a Trump ally and leading voice for the far right, was fatally shot while speaking to hundreds of people at Utah Valley University.
