Federal Reserve Governor Chris Waller, an advocate for an immediate interest rate cut, said on Friday he would accept the job as head of the U.S. central bank if asked by President Donald Trump, but so far Trump has not contacted him about it.

A Federal Reserve governor seen as a candidate to succeed Chair Jerome Powell laid out his strongest case yet for a rate cut this month, aligning himself with President Trump's demands that the central bank lower interest rates.

The US dollar is trading softer against most G10 and emerging market currencies today. Equities are mostly firmer today after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq reached record highs yesterday. The 10-year US Treasury yield is slightly softer, near 4.44%, which is up about three basis points on the week.
