Nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 43,000 individual members come together to form the AHA.

In summer 1995, after regional policy board (RPB) review, the AH Board of Trustees approved vision and mission statements. The Board of Trustees approved updates to the association’s vision and mission statements in February 2022 to more directly reflect the importance of equity in advancing the health of individuals and communities.
