Nov 16, 2020 · Running Windows 10 Pro (OS Build 19041.572). In File Explorer, there is an odd "Search" field that appears on the same level as the path (see image). Can this be removed? This functionality is not required. If I need to search a folder, I'll do it in a different way (such as dir *.xml /s from a command prompt).

Open Explorer (Windows Logo + E) then type "Recycle bin" in the address bar. That should work just fine, else add Recycle bin to your favorite locations in Exlorer. Or press the Windows logo and type: explorer.exe ::{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} Which you can of course assign a hot-key to any arbitrary keyboard key or key combination.

Mar 16, 2011 · I was deleting files using Windows Explorer, without pressing SHIFT key, just press delete key, even tried with right-click then delete. And also, the files deleted are any files: shortcut files, text files, folders, etc. All of them do not go into Recycle Bin. –

$_ refers to the object currently being processed, and the LastWriteTime property in this case refers to the date and time that the file was deleted. Get-Date returns the current date. Oct 8, 2023 · In Windows 10 Standard Open File dialog box, I've set the View to display large icon thumbnails by date order. Is there a way to prevent any sub folders from being displayed? In Window's File Explorer there's an option under 'View' to 'GroupBy' date modified which pushes the folders to the bottom of the list.

Feb 24, 2023 · If there is a need to recover a file, the following ideas need to be followed: Use file recovery software ASAP (i.e.: Recuva) since the chances of the files being overwritten increases over time. The recovery location must be different than on the disk / partition in which the file got deleted (i.e.: separate USB stick).
